Process

We here at Ground Wire subscribe to the idea that something worth doing is worth doing right. For us, that begins with using a combination of the best new and vintage recording equipment to capture the highest quality sounds for our profiles.

To start with, our amps are recorded with the industry standard Shure SM57 and Royer 121microphones. We took it to the next level by including a Wunder Audio CM67S tube microphone, as well as three Wunder Audio FET50 microphones in a Decca Tree formation. Through this combination of dynamic and tube microphones we can blend and sculpt tones that make our profiles second to none.

While we could have stopped there, its only the beginning. We use the world renown vintage Neve 1073’s which can be heard on countless hit records for the past fifty years as well as the Wunder Audio PEQ1r and Shadowhill Gama tube preamps. Our choice for audio conversion fell to the Burl Audio Mothership because the color of its tone and how it keeps our recordings soulful and not sterile. Our belief in using the best equipment possible to capture the most professional sounding profiles is what makes GroundWire’s tones unparalleled in today’s market.
